About Albany Traveler

Have you ever wondered what there is to do in Albany, New York? I’ve been asking, and answering, that question ever since I moved to the Capital Region in 1998.

In 2010, I began AlbanyKid.com, a family travel blog to share what I had learned about enrichment. But by 2013, with an empty nest looming on the horizon, I joined forces with Connecticut-based Malerie Yolen-Cohen to blog about romantic getaways on GetawayMavens.com.

I still continued to do freelance journalism and was often asked to write about things to do in Albany NY. And then, in 2022, I signed a contract to write A Hundred Things To Do In Albany Before You Die. Suddenly, I have a great reason to revisit all my favorite old haunts and to find out what’s new in the Capital District.

What you can count on is that every single attraction that I’m covering on Albany Traveler is one that I’ve visited personally recently. I live in the Capital Region’s Rensselaer County, near one of the best views of Albany’s Egg-centric skyline.

And I’m known for my uncanny ability to find sweet treats, so do expect that this is a dessert-first kind of travel blog. But I also love chasing waterfalls and Teddy, my Golden Doodle. We have lots of amazing hiking trails to share, plus all the historic sites, music venues, and great shopping that Upstate New York offers.
